Recently I was reading in a local Retail Solutions article on how many lawsuits has Walmart had as a result of their worker negligence. Well, to be clear here, that is not my question, but rather how many lawsuits has Wal-Mart faced? And what about all of the issues over the years involving safety and product defects? Well, let’s discuss this for a moment shall we?
According to my question, you would think that a company that is so large and global should have perfect safety records, right? Wrong.
For one thing, if a company is as large as Wal-Mart, there is no internal safety board to monitor this type of activity on the part of the workers at the corporation. Additionally, many lawsuits have been filed by former or current employees who have been injured while on the job.
It appears to me from my perusal of the numbers that Wal-Mart has had a variety of legal issues over the years.
In fact, I can’t remember ever seeing any kind of internal safety report to this effect. However, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that when there are a lot of lawsuits, something is definitely going on at the corporation. Still, you have to ask yourself, how many lawsuits has Wal-Mart had as a result of the injuries that their workers have endured? Well, the answer may surprise you.
The number of injuries sustained by Wal-Mart workers as a result of lifting heavy items is astounding
. It is believed to be in the thousands of cases that they have sustained injuries as a result of lifting. In addition, it appears that these lawsuits are increasing at an alarming rate. As a matter of fact, the Retail Solutions piece stated;
“There’s no question about it: There are a lot of questions being asked right now about how many lawsuits has Wal-Mart had as a result of its safety program.
This is only one of the concerns being raised at the plant site and across the country. Workers have also filed injury claims against the company for slipping and falling, and for being exposed to dangerous shingles and asbestos.” In fact, one of their safety manuals even recommended employees not to talk or socialize with other employees during the break. Wow, just how many lawsuits have Wal-Mart had as a result of their improper safety program?
A question may be raised in your head as to how many lawsuits has Wal-Mart had as a result of the manner in which they have been operating their business.
If you really do your homework, you will find that they have certainly had a lot of issues with their safety programs. You also have to take into consideration the fact that this corporation is a giant and global business that requires them to do business all over the world. As such, when accidents occur in different countries around the globe, it can lead to lawsuits all over the world. Therefore, you need to understand that these lawsuits have occurred due to the manner in which the company has been operating their business.
